Albert F. Kennett 1926 - 2007 Lawrence
Funeral services for Albert Floyd Kennett, 81, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Wesleyan Church. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Kennett died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at his home.He was born March 1, 1926, the son of Bruce and Inez Caspari Kennett. He graduated from Pittsburg High School.Mr. Kennett served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater as a Merchant Marine gunner during World War II. He was on a Merchant Marine ship when it sunk in the Pacific during Typhoon Louise and was rescued by a tanker ship.He worked as a pipefitter and welder for COOP or Farmland from 1954 until he retired in 1989. He was a member of Lawrence Wesleyan Church and the Alford-Clarke Veterans of Foreign Wars.Mr. Kennett married Betty Deems on Sept. 6, 1946, in Pittsburg. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Del, and wife Mary, Casagrande, Ariz.; two daughters, Konnie Viner and husband David, Londonderry, N.H., and Jolene Pearson and husband Bob, Lawrence; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Kayla, Seth, Brandon and Alyssa; four stepgrandchildren, Tina, Rhonda, Steve and Katie; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.The family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Hospice or the church, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Kennett.
