Milferd M. “Bud” Fowler

Funeral services for Milferd M. “Bud” Fowler, 87, McLouth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McLouth United Methodist Church. Burial will be at McLouth Cemetery. Mr. Fowler died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Veterans Affairs medical center in Leavenworth.He was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Oak Hill, the son of George Lehman and Neva Caroline Blake Fowler. He had lived in the McLouth area since 1957.Mr. Fowler served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European-Africa-Middle Eastern theater of operations. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star for gallantry in action. He worked at Goodyear Tire Co. in Topeka as a supervisor and retired in 1981 after 30 years of service. He also was a farmer.Mr. Fowler was a member of McLouth United Methodist Church. He served on the McLouth school board for 12 years and on the McLouth City Council for two terms.He married Erma Lynne Herries on Aug. 30, 1947, in Topeka. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Donald K. and Ronald K., both of Raytown, Mo., and Brian “Kevin,” Oskaloosa; and two grandchildren, Ashlee and Austin Fowler.He was preceded in death by a son, Myron Kent Fowler.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family suggests memorials to the church, Jefferson County Home Health Department or an organization of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
