Alice Marie Taliaferro

Effingham – Graveside services for Alice Marie Taliaferro, 84, Effingham, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham.Mrs. Taliaferro died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Village Villa Nursing Home in Nortonville. She was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Arrington, the daughter of Guy and Vera Wilson Cooper. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham in 1940. Mrs. Taliaferro worked at the Electra Co., Blish Mize, the Atchison Vo-Tech School and the offices of the American Royal for many years. She attended the Effingham Methodist and Effingham Christian churches. She was active in the local Democratic Party.She married William “Bill” Taliaferro on April 21, 1941, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He preceded her in death.Mrs. Taliaferro was also preceded in death by a great-grandson.Survivors include two sons, William R. “Bill” Taliaferro, Lewisburg, Pa., and Hal Taliaferro, Oskaloosa; three daughters, Joan Berry, San Diego, Connie Berry, Chandler, Ariz., and Jan Anstaett, Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Donald Cooper, Rogue River, Ore.; and a sister, Dorothy Scott Railey, Stockton, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
