Marjorie Evangeline White Sparks
Garnett – Funeral services for Marjorie Evangeline White Sparks, 85, Garnett, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Garnett. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mrs. Sparks died Monday, May 7, 2007, at Anderson County Hospital in Garnett.She was born June 24, 1921, in Centerville, the daughter of Joe and Bertha Brandon White. She grew up and attended schools in Centerville.Mrs. Sparks and her first husband, Arthur, worked on their farm in Centerville. She later worked in the dietary department at Anderson County Hospital. She and her second husband, “Sparky,” owned and operated Right Way Sewer Co. in Kansas City, Mo., until 1983, when they sold the business and moved to Ottawa.She was a member of First Baptist Church in Garnett and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.She enjoyed life on her farm, where she worked in the fields and milked cows. She also enjoyed gardening, caring for animals and spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She married Arthur K. Morgan on Jan. 21, 1937, in Paola. They shared more than 35 years of marriage. He died Sept. 18, 1972. She married Robert W. “Sparky” Sparks on June 22, 1974, in Garnett. They shared more than 22 years of marriage. He died June 10, 1996.Mrs. Sparks also was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Doris Marie Morgan.Survivors include three sons, Larry Morgan and wife Theresa, Lawrence, Terry Morgan and wife Kathy, Overland Park, and Tim Morgan and wife Mary Ann, Westphalia; a daughter, Marilyn Katzer and husband Leon, Greeley; four sisters-in-law, Rufina Morgan, Emporia, Dorothy Morgan, Osawatomie, Lola Mae Berry, Indianapolis, and Betty Snow, Austin, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
