Mildred S. Lewis

Graveside services for Mildred S. Lewis, 89, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Cemetery on Tecumseh Road in east Topeka.Mrs. Lewis died Monday, March 26, 2007, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.She was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Neola, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Edward and Rachel Faye Michael Schutz. She grew up and attended grade school in Richland and graduated from Overbrook High School in 1936. She lived in the Topeka area until 1983, when she moved to Baldwin City.Mrs. Lewis worked in the circulation department at the Topeka Capital-Journal for 37 years and retired in December 1982. She enjoyed her Avon products and shopping with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.She married Cecil A. Richardson in 1937. They divorced. She married Clifford W. Lewis on Aug. 22, 1951, in Berryton. They shared more than 31 years of marriage. He died Nov. 25, 1982.She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl Schutz; and a grandson.Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Milroy and husband Leland, Wellsville; two sisters, Mabel Riley and husband Vernon, Tecumseh, and Ruth Richards, Topeka; three grandchildren, Janice Caruthers, Larry Milroy and Jim Milroy; five great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Chris, Kari, Susan and Tory; and many nieces and nephews.Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin City, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
