Marjorie D. Merriott

A memorial service and committal for Marjorie D. Merriott, 83, DeWitt, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns.Mrs. Merriott died Saturday, March 24, 2007, in Lansing, Mich.She was born July 28, 1923, in Colony, Kan., the daughter of George Chandler and Melinda Joens Denton. Mrs. Merriott was a proofreader for the East Lansing Towne Courier newspaper and Stevens Advertising and Sefton Associates, both advertising agencies in Grand Rapids. She was a Tupperware representative for many years.She also was a member of glee clubs and involved in civic theater musicals in Grand Rapids. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and her black pug, Chandler. She married John Winston Merriott on Feb. 6, 1947, at Danforth Chapel in Lawrence, Kan. He preceded her in death.She also was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lovay Denton, a daughter, Marilyn Marie Faccio; and a son, Daniel Chandler Merriott. Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Durbin and husband Robert, Olathe, Kan., and Jan Williams and husband Michael, Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren, Neil, Brian, Christin and Cory Faccio, John, Jared and Jordan Wight, and Adam Bagwell; a great-grandson, Brett Daniel Faccio; a special niece, Denise Hurst; and several nieces and nephews.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E.
