Teresa Agnes Martin

Mass of the resurrection for Teresa A. Martin, 75, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.Miss Martin died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.She was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Lawrence, the daughter of William H. and Louise Marshall Martin. She graduated from Brackett Rural Grade School and in 1949 from Liberty Memorial High School. She graduated with honors from St. Mary College in Leavenworth in 1953.Miss Martin taught first grade in Topeka; Spokane, Wash.; and Salina. She later worked in various offices at Kansas University and was a geriatric nurse’s aide at Samaritan Lodge. She was an advocate for mental health and helped found and volunteered at Project Acceptance in Lawrence. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and had writings published in Catholic, regional and national publications.Survivors include two sisters, Eileen Botinelly, Lakewood, Colo., and Mary Alice Coveney, Columbus, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. today.
