Gary Wayne Morris

Graveside services for Gary Wayne Morris, 63, Coffeyville, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Elliott-Funston-White Post No. 1022.Mr. Morris died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at his home.He was born Feb. 7, 1944, in Coffeyville, the son of Samuel C. and Evelyn L. Thompson Morris. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville and Lawrence, where he graduated from Lawrence High School.Mr. Morris served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked and lived in Germany for many years and was employed by Audi Car Company for 20 years. He returned to Coffeyville in April 1997 to work at Bartlett Milling Co.He was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrence and the VFW.He married Winnifried Enk on Jan. 26, 1973, at Bad Friedrichshall, Germany. They later divorced.Survivors include three sons, Martin and Michael, both of Bad Friedrichshall, and Heikel, Costa Rica; a daughter, Sandra Steuerwald, Bad Friedrichshall; a brother, Charles, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Sandra Whitehead, Lawrence; and a granddaughter, Lara Steuwerwald, Bad Friedrichshall.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville 67337-1207.
