Marie J. Vaughn-Green

Mass of Christian Burial for Marie J. Vaughn-Green, 91, Coffeyville, will be at 11 a.m. today at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.Mrs. Vaughn-Green died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.She was born Jan. 31, 1916, in Coffeyville, the daughter of George and Anna Andres Morris. She grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School.Mrs. Vaughn-Green and her first husband, Raymond Vaughn, owned and operated Vaughn Service Station, where she was a bookkeeper. She later worked at Coffeyville Country Club.She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Altar Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a past president and former chaplain, Fiddlers and Pickers Association, where she served as historian, and was an active volunteer with Cherry Cherokee 4-H Club.She married Raymond E. Vaughn on July 20, 1936, in Coffeyville. He died Dec. 9, 1976. She married C.P. “Pat” Green on May 24, 1982, in Coffeyville. He died May 24, 1992.Mrs. Vaughn-Green was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Vaughn; two daughters, Patty Hills and Sue Cuevas; an infant daughter, Kathleen Vaughn; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Survivors include two sons, George D. Vaughn, Manchester, Tenn., and Raymond E. “Rocky” Vaughn Jr., Coffeyville; a daughter, Vickie Shepley, Lawrence; two brothers, James Morris, Coffeyville, and Harold Morris, Atlanta, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
