Edward Joseph O'Dowd 1936 - 2007 Topeka
A funeral service for Edward Joseph O'Dowd, 70, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home in Topeka. Cremation will follow the service.Mr. O'Dowd died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at his home.He was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Boston, the son of Celia and Edward G. O'Dowd.Mr. O'Dowd served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961 as a specialist E-4 teletype operator. He started his food service management career in San Antonio and transferred in 1966 to Kansas, where he managed several college food services. He drove Bus No. 62 for the Auburn-Washburn school district during his retirement.He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Maxine O'Dowd, in 2005. They were married Sept. 26, 1963.Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn O'Dowd, Topeka, and Kelly Galbraith, Auburn; two sons, Mark Lehmann, Lawrence, and Ronald Lehmann, Topeka; a stepmother, Doris O'Dowd, Manomet, Mass.; two brothers, David O'Dowd, Norwell, Mass., and Robert O'Dowd, Ocala, Fla.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, 200 S.W.
