John Joseph “Jack” Ferguson III
A funeral Mass for John Joseph “Jack” Ferguson III, 79, Madison, Va., will be at 2:45 p.m. March 22 in the chapel at Fort Myer next to Arlington National Cemetery. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.Mr. Ferguson died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in Madison after a long illness.He was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Scranton, Pa. He attended St. Paul’s High School in Scranton and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Scranton.Mr. Ferguson served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 in the 65th MRU Machine Records Unit in Frankfurt, Germany. He received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.He was manager and treasurer of the Fort Myer Credit Union from 1966 to 1994. He was a longtime member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Riverdale, Md., where he briefly served as an organist. He was active in politics in Riverdale.He married Ann Martinkovitch on April 11, 1953. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, John, Monrovia, Md., James, Woodbridge, Va., and Patrick, Lawrence, Kan; two daughters, Kathleen Jump, Crozet, Va., and Elizabeth Hernandez, Manassas Park, Va.; two sisters, Marie Pedersen, Chantilly, Va., and Carol Malinowski, Freehold Township, N.J.; a brother, Frank Ferguson, Hershey, Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 21 at Clore English Funeral Home in Culpeper.The family suggests memorials to the Madison County Library, 402 N.
