Leo Frisby Smith II

Graveside services and inurnment for Leo Frisby Smith II, 87, of Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Baldwin City. Mr. Smith died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Ashford Place in Overland Park. He was cremated.He was born March 1, 1920, in Lawrence, the son of Leo Frisby and Blanche M. Houston Smith. He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1938 and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Kansas University.Mr. Smith served in the United States Army during World War II.He owned and operated Leo Smith’s Appliance Store in Baldwin City for many years. In 1970, he became a stockbroker, a job he continued until he officially retired in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion Lloyd Beaton Post 228, Baldwin City. He enjoyed golfing with friends.He married Vi Masur on Aug. 9, 1942. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage before she died Dec. 22, 2001. Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Hanscom and Cynthia Swell.Survivors include a son, Leo Frisby III and wife Diana, of Basehor; a daughter, Susie Lyon and husband Duane, of Baldwin City; three granddaughters, Cyndi Buckley and Chris Kyle, both of Baldwin City, and Megan Smith, of Basehor; and four great-grandchildren, Braden and Kyon Buckley and Kwincy and Karley Kyle.The family suggests memorials to the Catholic Community Hospice, sent in care of the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
