Jerry Dominick Fusco

Funeral services for Jerry Dominick Fusco, 88, rural Berryton, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 S.E. Minn. Ave., in Topeka. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery in Douglas County.Mr. Fusco died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Midland Hospice House. He was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Utica, N.Y., the son of John and Rose Fusco. He grew up in Utica and moved to Santa Monica, Calif., at age 21. He moved to Kansas in 1947.Mr. Fusco served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was engaged in radar technology. He worked for 32 years for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, where he repaired communications equipment from Chicago to Tulsa to Albuquerque; worked as a technician in the radio shop; and later became a foreman in the telegraph repair shop in Topeka. He retired from Santa Fe in 1978. He continued to farm until 2000. He enjoyed going fishing with friends and family, gardening and farming.He married Juanita Fail, of Chanute, in 1942. They shared nearly 65 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Robert and wife Sharon; a brother, John and wife Angie, Poland, N.Y.; a sister, Philomena Broccoli, Utica, N.Y., four grandchildren, John and Anna Tyburski and Brian and Linnzi Fusco; a great-granddaughter, Nicola Tyburski; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fusco was preceded in death by a daughter, Verna Tyburski.Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka 66606 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 515 S.
