Robert G. "Bob" Allen 1933 - 2007 Topeka
Lecompton - Funeral services for Robert G. "Bob" Allen, 73, Topeka, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lecompton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.Mr. Allen died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at his home.He was born March 4, 1933, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Cecil R. and Mamie L. Allen. He grew up in the Kansas City and Lawrence areas. He also lived in Lecompton and moved to Topeka in 1968.Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Army in Korea for two years. He was on the start-up crew at DuPont in Tecumseh, where he worked for nine years. He also helped to start up the Hydra-Tool plant in North Topeka, where he worked for 11 years and became plant manager. He later worked for five years at the Seaman school district as a maintenance supervisor. He started his own trucking business and hauled grain to elevators. He retired in 1992. He was a member of Northland Christian Church. He was a licensed FCC Amateur Radio operator.He married Virginia Rose Smith on June 8, 1958, in Lecompton. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Thomas G., Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a daughter, Patricia I. Clark, Silver Lake; a sister, Betty L. Newell, Oskaloosa; two granddaughters; and two stepgrandchildren.Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka, where the family will receive them from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.The family suggests memorials to Lecompton United Methodist Church, 402 Elmore Street, Lecompton 66050.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.penwellgabel.com">www.penwellgabel.com</a>.
