George Micheal Basks

Funeral services for George Micheal Basks, 73, Claremore, will be at 1 p.m. today at Westside Holiness Church in Claremore. Burial with military honors will be in Ward’s Grove Cemetery in Foyil, Okla.Mr. Basks died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Claremore Veterans Center.He was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Pawnee, Okla., the son of Joe and Blanche Adams Basks. He grew up in Claremore and was a longtime resident of Lawrence, Kan. He returned to Claremore until 1990, when he moved to Chelsea, Okla.Mr. Basks served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a stone mason and was a member of Westside Holiness Church.He married Linda Sue Alexander. She preceded him in death. He married Helen Beebe on Oct. 4, 1970. She survives, of the home.Mr. Basks was also preceded in death by four grandchildren.Survivors include six daughters, Lesa Theis, Dana Walker and Rita Basks, all of Wichita, Kan., Johanna and Carla Basks and Misty Moore, all of Chelsea; four brothers, Leroy, Claremore, Jerry, Sequoyah, Okla., Joe, Kansas City, Mo., and Frank Spence, Chelsea; three sisters, Mary Dunlap and Angline Dudley, both of Claremore, and Caroline Banner, Wichita; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be sent at www.mmsfuneralhomes.com.
