Anna "Pauline" Newell 1922 - 2007 Oskaloosa

Funeral services for Anna "Pauline" Newell, 84, Oskaloosa, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in rural Oskaloosa.Mrs. Newell died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at her daughter's home in Meriden.She was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Dillon, the daughter of John and Sarah Hornung Jacobson. She had lived in the Ozawkie and Oskaloosa areas since 1936. Mrs. Newell worked as a clerk at the AAA office in Oskaloosa for 12 years and served on the Jefferson County election board. She was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and an accompanist for junior choir. She also sang and played for funerals and served on many church committees. She volunteered for the Jefferson County Historical Society at Old Jefferson Town in Oskaloosa.She married James Arthur "Art" Newell on Jan. 11, 1947, in Oskaloosa. He died Jan. 29, 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela S. Jones, Ozawkie, and Paula M. Ellis, Meriden; two brothers, Marlin "Pete" Jacobson, Valley Falls, and Kenneth J. Jacobson, Topeka; and two sisters, Lois Potts, Emporia, and Sarah Stillwell, Ione, Calif. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice or the Marian Clinic, sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O.
