Roy J. Haney

Plainville – Funeral services for Roy J. Haney, 85, Plainville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Plainville. Burial will be at Plainville Cemetery.Mr. Haney died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Rooks County Senior Services in Plainville.He was born April 4, 1922, in Red Willow, Alberta, Canada, the son of Roy and Esther Anderson Haney. He graduated from Courtland High School in Courtland and moved to Plainville in the 1950s. Mr. Haney served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned Haney Construction in Plainville for many years before he retired.He was a member of Reeder-Dinkel-Westhusin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8871.He married Shirley Ann Million on May 27, 1951, in Concordia. She died July 18, 1997. Survivors include two sons, Steve, Lawrence, and Jeff, Lecompton; two brothers, Dale Erickson and Norman Erickson, both of Courtland; two sisters, Dorothy Tucker, Plainville, and Mildred Russell, Courtland; and five grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel and 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the church.
