Parsons – Memorial services for Cindy Lee Smith Jackson, 45, Lawrence, were Monday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Inurnment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.Ms. Jackson died Monday, June 4, 2007, at her home following a lengthy illness.She was born June 10, 1961, in Sterling, Colo., the daughter of Donald L. and Joyce Graver Smith.Ms. Jackson was raised in Altamont and graduated from Labette County High School. She received an associate’s degree from Labette Community College and later received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Pittsburg State University. She had lived in Parsons and moved to Lawrence in 2004.She worked at the Kansas University research facility at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.Ms. Jackson attended Wesley United Methodist Church. She served on numerous committees and was appointed by the governor as a lobbyist for the blind.She married Doug Jackson in May 1981. They divorced.Survivors include her mother, Joyce Smith, Collinsville, Okla.; her father and stepmother, Don and Carolyn Smith, Wichita; three brothers, Larry Roberts, Arlington, Texas, Rick Roberts, San Francisco, and Don Smith, Collinsville; and three sisters, Dianne Jackson, Claremore, Okla., Kay Cherry, Eudora, and Dona Smith, Rogers, Ark.
