Helen Lucile Heidenreich Gentry

Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Lucile Heidenreich Gentry, 91, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.Mrs. Gentry died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born March 3, 1916, in Topeka, the daughter of Arthur and Christine Artzer Wright. She has been a Lawrence resident since 1972.Mrs. Gentry was a homemaker, and had worked as a maternity nurse’s aide in labor and delivery. She worked for 15 years at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. She also was a member of the founding group for Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, where she worked for 12 years.She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a member of the coffee klatch at the Simon Parish Center, and had volunteered at St. John’s Rummage House. She married George Heidenreich on Nov. 12, 1931, in Abilene. He died Feb. 17, 1971. She married Mulford Gentry on Nov. 3, 1972, in Topeka. He died Nov. 26, 1988.Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Hopkins, Lawrence, and Christine White, Topeka; two sisters, Irene Hinman, Topeka, and Doris Pierson, of Junction City; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, after which the family will meet friends until 8:30 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Gentry
