Bill “Coach” Mosley

Topeka – Funeral services for Bill “Coach” Mosley, 76, Topeka, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel in Topeka. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery in Topeka.Mr. Mosley died Thursday, May 31, 2007.He was born June 16, 1930, in Picher, Okla., the son of William and Ruby Mosley.He attended school in Commerce, Okla., and graduated from Commerce High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Pittsburg State University in 1956 and a master’s degree from Washburn University.Mr. Mosley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.He began his coaching career in 1957 in Fort Scott and was there until 1965. In 1966 he moved to Topeka, where he was a coach and teacher for Seaman High School until 1990.He was a member of American Legion Post 400, Veterans of Foreign Wars Philip Billard Post 1650, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 555, Lake Shawnee Golf Course and Northland Christian Church. He also attended Christ the King Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer.He married Neva Le Speaker. She preceded him in death. He married Lee Cox, of Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Kurt and wife Patti, Alexander, Ark.; two daughters, Kristi Mosley Reeb and husband Bart, Topeka, and Kelly Mosley Moomau, Ozawkie; two stepdaughters, Barbara Cox O’Meara and husband George, of California, and Laura Cox, Lawrence; a stepson, Dwight Cox, of California; four grandsons; six stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by two sisters.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, for research.Online condolences may be sent at www.penwellgabel.com.
