Mass of Christian Burial for Susan Scallon Sapp, 79, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell.Mrs. Sapp died Saturday, July 28, 2007, in Oklahoma City. She was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Blackwell, the daughter of W.D. “Tib” and Virginia Poling Scallon. She had previously lived in Lawrence, Kan., for about 20 years.She attended Rosary College in River Forest, Ill., and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. While in college, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Mrs. Sapp was a teacher. She had taught at Ardmore High School and John Marshall High School and Taft Junior High School in Oklahoma City. She was the secretary of Vintage Gardens II and III women’s group and chairwoman of the Care Committee.She married Bert L. Sapp on June 25, 1951, in Blackwell. He died in 2001.Survivors include a son, Stephen Lee, Dallas; two brothers, Charles Elliott Scallon of Norman and W.D. Scallon Jr. of Austin, Texas; and two grandchildren. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.The family suggests memorials to Catholic Charities or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 14624 N.
