Edward J. "Jerry" Sayles 1928 - 2007 Meriden
Funeral services for Edward J. "Jerry" Sayles, 78, Meriden, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Meriden Community Church. Burial with Masonic services will be in Meriden Cemetery.Mr. Sayles died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his home after a long illness.He was born Dec. 9, 1928, in Topeka, the son of Frank Henry Norton and Mabel Clare Koenitzer. He lived in the Meriden area for many years and also lived in the Neosho Falls, Wichita and Seibert, Colo., areas. He graduated from Meriden High School in 1946.Mr. Sayles served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was a farmer most of his life. He worked as a steelworker and machinist. He was also an inventor. He was a member of American Legion Post 225 in Ozawkie, a past master of Masonic Lodge 27 and a member and past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 83, both in LeRoy. He was also a member of Meriden Community Church.He married Peggy Sue Frommer on Aug. 15, 1954, in Topeka. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Curtis and Scott, both of Seibert, Colo., Frank Sayles, Meriden; a daughter, Debra Tosh, Olathe; and 12 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel, P.O.
