Donald George Hurst

Services for Donald George Hurst, 82, Ozawkie, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Way of the Cross United Methodist Church in Ozawkie. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Geneva Cemetery in Geneva, Neb.Mr. Hurst died Friday, July 20, 2007, at his home after a long illness.He was born June 19, 1925, in Sutton, Neb., the son of William A. and Anna C. Kranz. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1942. He moved from Topeka to Ozawkie in 1974.Mr. Hurst served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Army Reserves from 1967 to 1987. He was a military vehicle parts man at American Military Supply 39 in Topeka, and farmed with his father in Sutton, Neb. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Masonic Lodge AF&AM in Hebron, Neb., Way of the Cross United Methodist Church in Ozawkie, VFW Post 10815 in Meriden and American Legion Post 225 in Ozawkie.He married Erma Irene Krause on April 8, 1950, in Concordia. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Tim, Scottsbluff, Neb.; a brother, Cleo, Grand Island, Neb.; two sisters, Dorothy Sundeling, Modesto, Calif., and Fern Troudt, Grand Island, Neb.; and a granddaughter.The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel.The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of the chapel, P.O.
