Kermit Eugene Broers

Funeral services for Kermit Eugene Broers, 91, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Eudora Cemetery.Mr. Broers died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Eudora Nursing Center.He was born May 30, 1916, in the Weaver community in Douglas County, the son of George J. and Anna A. Spitzli Broers.Mr. Broers served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the South Pacific, Philippines and the occupation of Japan. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for a number of years and was also a mechanic and car salesman.He was a member of Eudora United Methodist Church, where he was a former trustee. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Club and was on the CPA Committee.He married Alma Baker. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Jane Lynn Boyer, Longford; two sons, John K., Eudora, and James S., Mission; a brother, Homer O., Eudora; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at the Eudora chapel, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice and Alzheimer’s Association, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Broers.
