Mildred I. Cropper

Oskaloosa – Services for Mildred I. Cropper, 93, Oskaloosa, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at Nortonville Cemetery.Mrs. Cropper died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester.She was born Jan. 13, 1914, in rural Valley Falls, the daughter of Charles Thomas and Elsie Pearl Heineken Thorp.Mrs. Cropper was a homemaker. She also worked as a nurse’s aid and in the laundry department for Valleyview Nursing Home in Valley Falls, Jefferson County Geriatric Center and Easton Manor. She was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church and Oskaloosa Senior Citizens.She married Marron John Cropper on June 29, 1933, in Oskaloosa. He died Jan. 8, 1969.Mrs. Cropper also was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond F. and Edward L. Cropper.Survivors include four sons, Marron C. Cropper, San Antonio, Ernest Cropper, Topeka, Richard D. Cropper, Oskaloosa, and Robert J. Cropper, Lawrence; five daughters, Elsie Pearl Kruse, Mena, Ariz., Delores Ann Nieman, Winchester, Ida Mae Beem, Olathe, Mary C. Downs, Kansas City, Kan., and Virginia E. Bowen, Valley Falls; and many grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels of Oskaloosa or Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
