Betty Taylor

Funeral services for Betty Taylor, 74, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church. A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Taylor died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at the Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.She was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Fowler, Colo., the daughter of Sampson and Mary L. Maggart McBee.She worked in the Ribbon Converting Department at Hallmark and retired in 1988. She had a day care from 1995 to 1998 and was an Avon Representative for 20 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church since 1940 and a worker in the Children’s Church, Sunday school program, nursery and Lay Witness Ministry. She was also a member of the Piece Maker Quilt Club, CPAG Quilt Club and Home Demonstration Unit (Extension).She married Cloyde E. Taylor on Aug. 21, 1949, in Fowler, Colo. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Kathy Anderson and husband Chuck, Meriden, and Judy Williams and husband Rex, Lawrence; a sister, Darlene Wooters, Elk City, Okla.; five grandchildren, Gina, LaVonda, Craig, Amy and Tracy; and 12 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.The family suggest memorials to Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Taylor.
