Jane Ferguson Shepherd 1913 - 2007 Lawrence
Private inurnment services for Jane Ferguson Shepherd, 93, Lawrence, will be later at Highland Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan.Mrs. Shepherd died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community. She was born Dec. 29, 1913, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Walter and Laura Sigler Ferguson. She was raised in Kansas City, Kan., and attended Kansas University. She moved to Lawrence from Kansas City, Kan., in 2000.Mrs. Shepherd was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Lawrence and a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Kan. She was a member of the Service League, Junior League of Kansas City, Kan., Pi Beta Phi sorority and P.E.O. Chapter FE. She served on the board of directors of Visiting Nurses of Wyandotte County and was a Camp Fire leader.She married Orrin W. Shepherd on Oct. 2, 1937. He died in April 1996.Survivors include a daughter, Jean Shepherd, Lawrence; a son, O. Walter and wife Jean Shepherd, Wayzata, Minn.; six grandchildren, Reid, Karrigan and Ian Bork, Scott and Chris Shepherd, and Suzy Rives; and nine great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Cancer Action in Kansas City, Kan., or the John K. Bork Scholarship Fund, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
