Alice Kehayan Nalbandian 1914 - 2007 Lawrence
A family gathering for Alice Kehayan Nalbandian, 92, Lawrence, will be at a later date in Camarillo, Calif. Inurnment will be in Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo, Calif. Mrs. Nalbandian died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born June 14, 1914, in Constantinople, Turkey. She moved to New York May 26, 1921, at the age of 7 with her family. She grew up in New York City and moved to Idaho during World War II. She lived most of her life in Los Angeles. She moved to Lawrence in July 2005 to live at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.Mrs. Nalbandian was a homemaker. She worked as an office manager at Burns Typesetting until she retired. She was an avid reader and wrote poetry. She had one of her poems published in The New Yorker magazine.She married Harry Nalbandian in 1942 in Boise, Idaho. He died in 1991. Survivors include a son, John and wife Carol, Lawrence, a daughter, Terry Hare of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Melanie Thomas, Boise, Idaho; a grandson, John Baylor Nalbandian; and two great-grandchildren, Janie and George. The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice or the Nalbandian Public Service Fund at the Kansas University Endowment Association, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
