Alice B. Frye

Funeral services for Alice B. Frye, 94, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ninth Street Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Frye died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.She was born May 7, 1912, in Waldo, the daughter of Stanley and Lizzie Watts Bronson. She lived in Lawrence for many years. Mrs. Frye worked at Kappa Kappa Gamma Social Sorority as a housekeeper for many years. She worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant during World War II. She was a 50-year member of Siloam Chapter 10 Order of Eastern Star in Lawrence and the Ninth Street Baptist Church. She married Robert K. Frye on Sept. 3, 1932, in Garnett. He died April 11, 1985. Survivors include a son, Arthur Frye, Lawrence; a daughter, Jane Barnes, Lawrence; a brother, Leonard Monroe, Lawrence; a sister, Mary Helen Winborn, Detroit; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday before services at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at www.warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Frye.
