Barbara Joanne Flanner 1934 - 2007 Wellsville
Wellsville - Funeral services for Barbara Joanne Flanner, 72, Wellsville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Wellsville. Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery.Mrs. Flanner died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence. She was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Franklin Westhoff and Naomi Babcock. She was raised on her family farm in Stanley and graduated from Stanley High School in 1952. She moved to Wellsville in the late 1950s.Mrs. Flanner was a homemaker. She served as the Wellsville Manor Activities Director for some time and worked as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She had been a member of the Community of Christ since she was 8 years old. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.She married Roger Allen Flanner on Aug. 12, 1968. He survives, of the home in Baldwin City.Other survivors include a son, Tim Wade, Wellsville; six daughters, Susan Ellis and Connie Scott and husband Don, all of Overland Park, Debbie Coughenour and husband Jim and Stephanie Surber and husband Paul, all of Wellsville, and Tina Mersman and husband Scott and Christy Lund and husband Boyd, all of Baldwin City; three sisters, Patricia Lowe and Lorna Witcher, both of Wellsville, and Linda Finch, Rantoul; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; an aunt, Margie Babcock, Gardner; an uncle, Charles Babcock, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Flanner's parents, one granddaughter and one grandson died earlier.The family will meet friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the American Alzheimer's Association, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
