Charles W. Henthorne

Perry – Memorial services for Charles W. Henthorne, 82, Perry, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Perry United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will be at a later date.Mr. Henthorne died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka. He was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Washington, Kan., the son of Calvin and Ethel Mundwiler Henthorne and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Barney Cole. He graduated from Washington High School in 1943.Mr. Henthorne served in the U.S. Navy for more than three years and was a veteran of World War II. He was a surveying engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation from 1962 until he retired in 1987. He was a member of American Legion Post 142 in Perry and Perry United Methodist Church. He married Esther L. Minder on Sept. 27, 1947, at Hastings, Neb. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include, three sons, Michael Henthorne, Philomath, Ore., Jim Henthorne, Seneca, and Bob Henthorne, Valley Falls; four daughters, Mary Scheetz and Brenda S. Williamson, both of Portland, Ore., Cindy Lake, Cheyenne, Wyo. and Stephanie Johnson, Manhattan; a sister, Helen Graves, Fairbury, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O.
