Janet Irene Hornberger

Services for Janet Irene Hornberger, 61, Oskaloosa, will be at a later date. She was cremated.Mrs. Hornberger died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at Hickory Pointe Care & Rehabilitation Center in Oskaloosa.She was born Nov. 30, 1945, in Douglas County, the daughter of Harry W. and Marian Deskins Carr. She moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1976 and returned to Lawrence in 1994.Mrs. Hornberger worked for the First United Methodist Church as nursery coordinator from 1978 to 1986, a private care baby sitter from 1984 to 1990 and a delivery driver for Tom’s Snack Foods from 1990 to 1994, all in Hobbs. She worked at Packerware/Berry Plastics in Lawrence from 1995 to 1997.She was the past president and member of Eagles Auxiliary Alford-Clarke Post 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 Auxiliary, all of Lawrence. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Topeka and Perry Lecompton Senior Services.Survivors include her mother, Marian Carr; a son, James Hornberger, Perry; and five sisters, Donna Johnson, Texas, Barbara Wright, Wichita, Betty Nichols, Lawrence, Judy Carr, Wellsville, and Katherine Howe, Perry.Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
