Hershal James Dixon

Mass of Christian Burial for Hershal James Dixon, 89, Oskaloosa, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Theresa Church in Perry. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Perry. Mr. Dixon died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.He was born Jan. 26, 1918, in Chambers, Neb., the son of Emory James and Clara Gertrude Echterling Dixon. He graduated from Lawson, Mo., High School. He moved from Kansas City, Mo., to the Oskaloosa area in 1944.Mr. Dixon served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He worked as a mechanical maintenance man for the Skelgas Company in Kansas City for more than 34 years and retired in 1980. Survivors include a sister, Elnora Dixon, Winchester.A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, after which the family will receive friends until 6 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the St. Theresa Catholic Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
