Beth Meeker Reeves 1911 - 2007 Baldwin City

Baldwin City - Graveside services for Beth Meeker Reeves, 95, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City.Mrs. Reeves died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Riverton, the daughter of Robert and Clara A. Potter Meeker. She grew up in Riverton and graduated from Cherokee County High School near Riverton in 1929, and from Flowers College of Beauty Culture in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1937.Mrs. Reeves worked in Colorado Springs for several years before moving to Baldwin City, where she was a hairdresser for more than 50 years before retiring. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 267, Eastern Star Evangeline Chapter No. 162, the American Legion Auxiliary-Lloyd Beaton Post No. 228, United Methodist Women and Philamatheon Club. She was a past matron of Order of the Eastern Star, past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Past Presidents Club of A.L.A. and past district president of the American Legion Auxiliary of the state of Kansas.Mrs. Reeves enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, including her bridge club.She married Leo N. Williams in 1942. He died in August 1965. She married Virgil Reeves on May 24, 1970, in Baldwin City. He died in 1976.Survivors include a daughter, Carol B. Stout and husband Charles, Baldwin City; a stepdaughter, Melba Johnston and husband Jerry, Lakewood, Colo.; two stepsons, Charles R. and wife Marion, Olathe, and Claude Kent and wife Bobbi, Melvern; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Vivian Bowerman, Faye Keeler and Ruth Martin; and two brothers, Emmett "Pat" and Allen Meeker.Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin City, where the family will greet them from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m., with the graveside services following.The family suggests memorials to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
