Funeral services for Anderson "Andy" Dean, 57, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship Church in Lawrence. Burial will be in Vinland Cemetery.Mr. Dean died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born Sept. 1, 1949, in Hollandale, Miss., the son of Elder Murvin and Rebecca Dean.He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1967. He worked for Craftsman Marble before being drafted into the Army. He served in Vietnam from September 1969 to August 1971 with Battery B, 1st Battalion, 30th U.S. Army, 5th Artillery. He worked for Westar Energy as a fuel foreman from March 1973 until he retired on Feb. 2, 2007. Mr. Dean was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan and held season tickets for 27 years.He married Merna K. Eckman on June 30, 1972. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his father, Elder Murvin Dean, of Lawrence; six sisters, Janice Trotter and Mattie Neely, both of Lawrence, Wanda Austin, Houston, Myrtis Edwards and husband A.B., Black Jack, Mo., Teresa Garret, Lenexa, and Ethel Hundley, Lee's Summit, Mo.; three brothers, Herbert and James, both of Lawrence, and Murvin Jr. and wife Earline, Texarkana, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Linda Eckman, Baldwin City; two brothers-in-law, Steven Eckman and wife Nancy, Baldwin City, and Vincent Eckman, Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews and friends.His mother and twin sisters died earlier.Friends may call after noon today through the service time Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Oncology Center or the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
