Lauren Keith “Red” McClure

Funeral services for Lauren Keith “Red” McClure, 85, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. McClure died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born April 4, 1921, in Lawrence, the son of Raymond E. and Frieda Ewing McClure. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School.Mr. McClure served in the U.S. Army during World War II and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was a service manager for the Chevrolet dealership in Lawrence for more than 25 years. He worked for the Lawrence school district and Principal Decorating after he retired.He married Betty Louise Davison in 1942. She died in 1987. Mr. McClure was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Merle.Survivors include two sons, Brett and wife Marcie, El Dorado, and Steven McClure Sr. and wife Rachael, Corpus Christi, Texas; a daughter, Janet McNish and husband Earl, Baldwin City; a brother, Bruce, Cottonwood, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Elvin Davison; nine grandchildren, Laura Hutchcraft, Pam Hahn, Becky Miller, Earl McNish Jr., Lisa Marie Herrera, Steven Jr., Jeffery, Marshall and Mason McClure; seven great-grandchildren, Mark Anderson, Jim and Justin Hahn, Alexandria Gonzales, Jeffery Mark and Cammie Dawn McClure, and Bridgit Hutchcraft; and three great-great-grandchildren, Rusty Lasiter, Aiden Anderson and Alexandria Hahn.The family suggests memorials to the Lauren McClure Scholarship Fund at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association, to help the health care staff continue their education, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
