Alyce M. Edgar

Graveside services for Alyce M. Edgar, 97, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Edgar died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.She was born Nov. 23, 1909, in Willow Springs, Mo., the daughter of Jessie and Genie Taylor Walbridge. She moved in 1911 to McLouth, where she attended grade school and high school. She moved to Lawrence in December 1926. Mrs. Edgar worked as a telephone operator and manager for Southwestern Bell for 46 years and retired in 1974. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lawrence, American Legion Auxiliary, Eight & Forty, West Side Study Club and Pioneer Telephone People of America. She married Edwin Owen Edgar. He preceded her in death.Survivors include five nephews, Gary Walbridge, Baldwin City, Don Walbridge, Overland Park, Maurice and Richard Walbridge, both of McLouth, and Mark Roberts, Ozawkie.The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
