Mildred Lenor McQueeney

Services for Mildred Lenor McQueeney, 97, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Paola.Mrs. McQueeney died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Shirley, W.Va., the daughter of Edna Christmas Kemper and Benjamin Harrison Jones. She moved to Kansas in 1948.She was a switchboard operator and clerk and a homemaker.She was a member of St. Anna’s Circle Quilters at Holy Trinity Church in Paola and the Paola Senior Citizens quilting group. She attended St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center and St. John the Evangelist, both in Lawrence. She participated in the Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen. She enjoyed volunteer work.She married John Fullerton McQueeney in 1942 in Limestone, N.Y. He died in 1978.Her parents and a brother, Robert Rockdale Jones, also preceded her in death.Survivors include a daughter, Mary Pat, Lawrence; a son, John and wife Ann, Lawrence; grandchildren, John William, Ryan Mustian, and Katie and Michael McQueeney; and two stepgranddaughters, Katherine and Sarah Walcott.The family suggests memorials to the Ursuline Foundation in Paola, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Endowment Pallative Care or the Johnson County Community College Foundation Tyree Leadership Scholarship, sent in care of the mortuary, 305 N.
