Walter John Samanski

Services for Walter John Samanski, 91, Ness City, were Monday in Ness City. He was buried in the Ness City Cemetery.Mr. Samanski died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Ness County Hospital Home Health Service Long Term Care.Mr. Samanski was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Bulgar, Pa., the son of Charles and Anna Glazen Samanski.He worked in a coal mine. He then worked for a farmer and then for Balboa Baker in Midway, Pa. He then worked as a furnace operator at a steel mill in Carnegie, Pa. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1941 to 1945. He retired when he was 54.He married Harriet Evans in 1944. She died in 1970. He married Clara Bradley Glenn in 1972. She died in 1988. He married Lenora Hodel Wiens on Aug. 5, 1990. She died Dec. 8, 2007.He is survived by a sister, Adella Kramer, Ambridge, Pa.; five stepchildren, Jim Glenn, Taos, N.M., Stan Wiens, Kemp, Texas, and Gwen Wiens-Blum, Jan Wiens and Cindy Wiens, all of Lawrence; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.The family suggests contributions to First Baptist Church in Ness City or the Hereditary Neurological Disease Center in Wichita, sent in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 207 N.
