Ozawkie – Funeral services for Marilyn J. Kesinger, 75, rural Ozawkie, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Way of the Cross Methodist Church in Ozawkie. Burial will follow in Ozawkie Cemetery.Mrs. Kesinger died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at her home.She was born June 19, 1932, in Valley Falls, the daughter of Harold E. and Grace Ferrell Scarlett. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1950. She moved from McLouth to Ozawkie, where she lived for 16 years.Mrs. Kesinger worked as a billing clerk at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., and retired in 1992 after 12 years of service. She served as an office manager for Rural Water District 10 and chairwoman for Sewer District 6, both in rural Ozawkie, since 1997. She was a member of Way of the Cross United Methodist Church in Ozawkie. She married Donald L. Kesinger on Aug. 21, 1950, in Winchester. He died Nov. 13, 1997.Survivors include four sons, Kent Kesinger and wife Jane, Baldwin City, Kevin Kesinger and wife Connie, Lawrence, Merlin Kesinger and wife Debbie, McLouth, and Michael Kesinger and wife Lori, Lawrence; four daughters, Gayla Petitt and Donnita Kesinger, both of Ozawkie, Carol Lohman and husband Craig, both of Tonganoxie, and Kathryn “Katie” Barnes and husband Pat, Ozawkie; five brothers, Marlin Scarlett, Sabetha, Harlan Scarlett, Topeka, Everett Scarlett, Charleston, S.C., Gary Scarlett, Topeka, and John Scarlett, Wellsville; five sisters, Arlene Gier, Neola Risinger and Leota Bolz, all of Valley Falls, Anita Grahem, Meriden, and Helen Gibson, Rapid City, S.D.; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, a brother and a sister.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
