Charles R. “Chuck” Daugherty

Funeral services for Charles R. “Chuck” Daugherty, 85, Leavenworth, were Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colo.Mr. Daugherty died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.He was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Harris, the son of George and Odie Valentine Daugherty.Mr. Daugherty served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Silver Star and Purple Heart Medal. He worked for Graham’s Dairy Farm in Anderson County before and after his military service.He later worked for Hallack and Howard Lumber Co., a furniture manufacturer, in Denver until he retired at the age of 62. He worked part time at a car wash in Denver after he retired.Mr. Daugherty was a member of the Catholic Church in the Denver area. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and National Timberwolf Association 104th Infantry Division Veterans Company L 413th.He married Maxine Daugherty in Harris.
