Janet L. Witte Davis 1964 - 2007 Lawrence
Mass of Christian Burial for Janet L. Witte Davis, 43, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Cambridge, Neb., with Father Robert Barnhill officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Cambridge, Neb. Mrs. Davis died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. She was born Aug. 3, 1964, in Cambridge, Neb., the daughter of Gerald M. and Jean M. Ohlson Witte. She grew up on the family farm south of Cambridge. She attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1983. She received a degree in special education from Fort Hays State University and a master's degree in special education from Kansas University. Mrs. Davis taught in the Perry-Lecompton Consolidated School District for 20 years, where she worked with special-needs students. She enjoyed the outdoors, riding her horse, Lightning, playing with her dog, Trevor, trips to the family farm in Nebraska and her family. She was a true "Big Red" enthusiast.Mrs. Davis married Larry Todd Davis on Aug. 8, 1992, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter Chantelle, of the home; her parents, Gerald and Jean Witte, Cambridge, Neb.; three sisters, Barbara Phillips and husband Duane, Brenda Miller and husband Mark, and Sharon Evans and husband Kelly, all of Cambridge, Neb.; three brothers, Steve Witte and wife Connie, Roger Witte and wife Nan, of Cambridge, and Mark Witte and wife Deb, Colorado Springs; her parents-in-law, Dean and Dorothy Davis, Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her grandparents.A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, Neb. The family suggests memorials for Chantelle's education be left in Mrs. Davis' name or sent in care of the mortuary, P.O. Box 247, Cambridge, NE 69022.
