Funeral services for George Renault Jr., 83, Belton, Mo., will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Moriah & Freeman Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.Mr. Renault died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at his home.He was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of George and Juliette Droz Renault. He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Manuel High and Vocational School in 1942. Mr. Renault served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1944 as a sharp shooter during the Normandy Campaign at Omaha Beach. He received a Battle Star and Purple Heart after he suffered an injury to his right arm in St. Lo, France.He worked as a machinist for many companies and retired from Peterson Machine & Tool at age 65. He volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Hospital for 17 years. Mr. Renault was a member of the Military Honor Guard for Purple Heart recipients, commander of the DAV-MO Chapter 2 for two years and a member of the Swiss Society. He enjoyed dancing and cooking. He married Rosalie Miller in Kansas City, Mo. Survivors include two daughters, Michele Ruth and Janine Kalantar and husband Syrus; and two sons, George Renault III and wife Valarie, Lawrence, Kan., and Michael Renault; a sister, Irene Hummel; a sister-in-law, Louise Renault; two nieces, Nannette Bailey and Carol O’Brian; a nephew, Dan Renault; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
