Marvin Funk

Ottawa – Services for Marvin Funk, 83, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Agape Christian Center in Ottawa. Burial will follow at the Clinton Cemetery.Mr. Funk died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at his home.He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Wolf Point, Mont., the son of Addt and Anna Enns Funk. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1942. He attended college.He was manager of the CO-OP in Hillsboro for 25 years, before working at F&G Supply. He moved with his family to Ottawa in 1971. He owned and operated DeLaval Dairy Supply in Ottawa; he later owned Funk Sales and Service Furniture Store in Ottawa.Mr. Funk was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro and the Hillsboro Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, upholstering furniture and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.He married Esther Ruth Richert on Sept. 6, 1948. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Bruce and wife Shirley, Richmond, Texas, Troy, Gardner, and Farren Knapp, Ottawa; four daughters, Patricia Zamora and husband Carlos, Ottawa, Bonnie Bulmer and husband, Rick, Ottawa, Robin Johnson and husband Allen, Lawrence, and Ginger Pacheco, Lawrence; three brothers, Lavern, Hillsboro, Arlie, Newton, and Loyal, California; three sisters, Alice Funk, Omaha, Neb., Grace Weber, Wichita, and Viola Schultz, Buhler; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Roxanne M. Funk-Pierce, in 2005.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home.
