Robert “Bob” O’Trimble

Oskaloosa – Services for Robert “Bob” O’Trimble, 65, Perry, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Underwood Cemetery in Williamstown.Mr. O’Trimble died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minn.He was born April 2, 1942, in Lawrence, the son of Paul Eugene Sr. and Gladys Louise Bracken O’Trimble. He was a lifelong resident of the farm that had been in his family for more than 100 years. He graduated from Perry Rural High School in 1960.Mr. O’Trimble was a farmer and cattleman. He worked as an equipment operator for the Hamm Co. in Perry, and Hermann’s Excavating in Topeka. He retired from Farmland Industries in Lawrence in 1995.He was a member of Perry Christian Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lawrence and the Fine Farmers Association. He served on the Leavenworth/Jefferson Rural Electrical Association board of directors for 18 years, Jefferson County Committee of the Farm Service Agency and the board of directors for Farm Bureau of Jefferson County.Mr. O’Trimble and his wife, Helen, served as 4-H community leaders for the Billtown Go-Getters for many years. He was also a private pilot and enjoyed flying.He married Helen C. Babbitt on Aug. 26, 1962, in Clinton. They celebrated their 45th anniversary in Rochester on Sunday. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Steven and wife LaRinda, and Chad and wife Sheila, all of Perry; a daughter, Holly Smith and husband J.R., Perry; two brothers, Paul E. Jr., Perry, and Dennis, Williamstown; two sisters, Donna Bates, Oskaloosa, and Karen Kooser, Berryton; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Derek, Darcie, Caitlin, Tanner and Trista O’Trimble, Macy Scott and Shelby and Shyanne Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Allie O’Trimble.Mr. O’Trimble was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and William W.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the Bob O’Trimble Memorial for the Jefferson County 4-H Foundation Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
