George Walter Friend 1957 - 2007 Eudora
Funeral services for George Walter Friend, 50, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora chapel. Burial will be in Hesper Cemetery.Mr. Friend died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, near Poncha Springs, Colo.He was born May 30, 1957, in Denver, the son of Darryl D. and Marcia M. Harris Friend. He graduated from Wichita West High School in 1975.Mr. Friend worked for Charlie's TV in Emporia before moving to Eudora in 1990. He retired as a machine operator from Lawrence Paper Co. in May 2007.He married Retha Thompson on Nov. 4, 1990, in Wichita. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara Friend, Eudora; a son, John, Eudora; three brothers, Doug, Seminole, Fla., Greg, Emporia, and Brian, Burden; two sisters, Marla Patchel, Morganton, N.C., and Paulie Blunnie, Raytown, Mo.; and two grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service time Wednesday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of the mortuary, 1003 John L.
