Irene J. Pfannenstiel 1924 - 2007 Lawrence
Services for Irene J. Pfannenstiel, 83, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Pfannenstiel died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born March 11, 1924, in Ellis County, the daughter of Michael and Anna Sanders Hammerschmidt. She moved to Lawrence in 1980 from Ulysses.Mrs. Pfannenstiel was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.Survivors include six daughters, Rose Ann Beltch and Judith Schomer, both of Lawrence, Diane Pfannenstiel, Dallas, Shiela Houston, LeRoy, Brenda Fisher, Hominy, Okla., and Anita Windsor, Sedan; three sons, Kenneth Pfannenstiel, Northglenn, Colo., Robert Pfannenstiel, Hays, and Freddie Pfannenstiel, Denver; two sisters, Helen Mohl, Russell, and Viola Robben, Walker; three brothers, Elmer Hammerschmidt, Salina, Elias Hammerschmidt, Kingman, and Richard Hammerschmidt, Hays; 20 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.Four grandchildren died earlier.The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.warrenmcelwain.com">www.warrenmcelwain.com</a>, subject: Pfannenstiel.
