David Byran “Bevo” Latinis

Memorial eulogy services for David Byran “Bevo” Latinis, 65, Overland Park, will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Kansas University Adams Alumni Center, 1266 Oread Ave. A celebration of life buffet reception will follow.Mr. Latinis died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park.He was born Aug. 7, 1942, in Wichita, the son of Firmin “Tony” and Virginia Daniels Latinis. He graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1960, where he lettered in football and baseball. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from KU. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1965.Mr. Latinis was a tax accountant and an independent businessman. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, Fiji Alumni Association and Kansas Alumni Association. He had recently retired and was enjoying his family, friends, Jayhawk sports and video poker.Some of his proudest accomplishments included coaching youth sports, serving as president of the Kansas Bassmasters Club Federation, fishing in many bass tournaments throughout the Midwest, and participating in his fraternity class’ annual FIJI pheasant fusiliers hunting retreat.Survivors include a daughter, Carie Latinis-Yeo and husband Wally, of Olathe; two sons, Kyle and wife Swee Chiang, of Phnom Penn, Cambodia, and Kevin and wife Kelly, of Leawood; eight grandchildren, Sarahanne, Garret, Mina, Michael, Katie, Matthew, Megan and Molly; his companion, Sally Jacqueline Kraft; his companion’s children, Elizabeth Davis, Overland Park, and Brady Davis and family, of Geneva, Switzerland; and friends, Barbara and Ken Bridges, and Lynn Brandt and family.His parents and an older sister, Sally Adele Latinis Billingsley, died earlier.
