Ruth E. Trowbridge

Funeral services for Ruth E. Trowbridge, 90, Overland Park, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Trowbridge died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center of natural causes.She was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Yutan, Neb., the daughter of John and Mabel Moffit LaMont. She grew up in Blue Rapids and attended school in Manhattan where she met her husband, Howard. She lived in Lawrence until 2004, when she moved to the Kansas City area.Mrs. Trowbridge worked in many secretarial positions for the federal government in Kansas City, Kan. She went to work at an air base in Japan for five years in 1964. She transferred to Vandenberg Air Force Base in 1969, where she worked for 10 years. She then worked for three years at an air base in South Korea and retired in 1983. She married Howard A. Trowbridge. He preceded her in death.Survivors include two sons, John and wife Connie, Overland Park, and Jim, Independence, Mo.; a brother, Elbert LaMont, Wichita; two sisters, Catherine Easter, Florida, and Goldie Zacharias, Towanda; four grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Randel, Linda Sue Huggins, Bruce Trowbridge and Cheryl Morrow; and nine great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
