Joseph J. “Joe” Lindsay

Funeral services for Joseph J. “Joe” Lindsay, 88, Winchester, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will be at Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery in Winchester.Mr. Lindsay died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at the Jefferson County Geriatrics Center in Winchester.He was born July 28, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Joseph Hunt and Goldie Mark Lindsay. He was a 1938 graduate of Winchester High School.Mr. Lindsay was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a lieutenant of security at the Hercules Sunflower Ordnance Plant in De Soto, until he retired in 1982 after 30 years.He married Claire Elizabeth Miller on Oct. 23, 1947, in Winchester. She preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 1983.Survivors include two brothers, Paul, Liberty, Mo., and Karl, Winchester; and a sister, Vera Miller, Lawrence.He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Willard, William and Howard Mark Lindsay.Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Jefferson County Hospice or to Jefferson County Geriatrics Center, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
